You Are In Control of How You Age

When you hit 50 + years old, many people will tell you that as you age, there’s little you can do about it. Some suggest that you give up, accept your age, prepare to get weaker, gain weight, become more tired, and accept brain fog as just part of getting old. Nothing can change it, they say, it’s a fact of aging.

Well, not my life!

And soon, not yours, either! I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to suffer this fate. Your wellness can be ignited today. You have the power to control how you age, it is called EMPOWERMENT.

You can build lean muscle strength, improve your cardio, increase energy, sleep more restfully, stress-less, improve aging skin and reshape your body, whatever age you are.

Don’t slow down. Stay physically active, be more active today than you were 10 years ago. Plan your days of exercise and days of movement.  Your body wants and needs to move everyday! So plan you exercises for four days, which can be riding a bike, hiking, swimming, dance, any exercise that will get your heart pumping. On the other three days include, strength training with weights or resistant bands, Pilates, Yoga, or any activity that keeps you from sitting.Take a daily walk. Even if your pace is gentle and the distance is short, the time spent on your feet will help keep your bones strong.

Eat a balanced diet that’s low in saturated fat and high in fruits and vegetables.

Get your annual check-ups be sure to keep up with you immunizations, screening tests such as cancer, don’t forget about your oral health too!

Create a new skincare routine that includes:

Double cleanse facial wash

Hydrating toner

Add serums: that contain a higher concentration of active ingredients than a moisturizer. The best anti-aging ingredients to look out for are vitamin A derivatives known as retinoids (retinol, tretinoin, and tazarotene) and vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate). As well as increasing collagen in your skin, they also act as antioxidants to soak up the biological and environmental oxidative stress that builds up to cause aging. Look for a moisturizer that contains water-binding humectants like glycerine and hyaluronic acid.

An occlusive like petrolatum (commercially known as Vaseline, although Aquaphor also works) and mineral oil at night can prevent water evaporating from your skin. But be sure your skin is clean to avoid trapping bacteria!

Use sunscreen on your face, neck, chest and hands. A daily application of a broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen can fade age spots, improve skin texture, and flatten out wrinkles by 20 percent in only three months. The researchers suggest that it’s because sunscreen lets the skin take a break from being continually battered by UV rays, so its own powerful regenerative abilities have a chance to work.

Every small thing you do makes a difference in your health, there is so much you can do day to day that will have a profound affect on your health.
