As I found myself navigating the Dallas North Tollway, cruising at a brisk 70–75 mph, a thought struck me like a bolt of lightning across the vast Texan sky.

We Texans pride ourselves on moving fast, a reflection of our go-getter spirit and boundless energy. But as my car hummed along the asphalt, seamlessly blending speed with the rhythm of the road, I couldn’t help but draw parallels to the pace of our lives. Just as we navigate these vast stretches of road, so too do we often rush through life, chasing goals, ticking off to-do lists, and always aiming for the next milestone. It was in this moment of clarity, with the landscape whizzing by, that I realized the profound importance of slowing down internally, even as we speed on externally.
