A tall hot matcha tea latte from Starbucks will set you back $4.58 (including taxes). If you use all natural and organic ingredients, my homemade version will cost about $1.55. And I bet my version is healthier!

Regular green tea is already touted as an antioxidant powerhouse, but matcha has even more benefits.

Ingredients

Scale

12 0z  coconut milk or almond milk, (coconut milk will make it thicker)

1 cup of water

2 tsp matcha powder

1/2 tsp vanilla

1 tsp agave syrup or sweetener of choice -Matcha’s grassy, umami flavor can be an acquired taste. If you’re new to making it, don’t hesitate to add a few drops of maple syrup or honey.

Instructions

In a small saucepan on medium heat, bring milk and water to a simmer.

Place matcha in a small bowl. Whisk in about 1/4 cup milk mixture.

Transfer to a blender and add vanilla and sweetener.
